Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Macro Browser and the privacy ecosystem.
General Questions
What is Macro Browser?
Macro is a private, intelligent, user-owned layer for the internet. The browser is your front door to a complete privacy ecosystem that includes tab-aware AI, a signing sandbox, mesh P2P VPN, Privacy Profiles, encrypted communications, Web3 depth, and a privacy mixer.
How is Macro different from other browsers?
Most browsers are just windows to the web with privacy as an afterthought. Macro is a protective layer where privacy, security, and intelligence work together as one system. All features built in, no plugins required.
Is Macro free to use?
Basic features are free. Advanced features and premium capabilities require $MACRO holdings. See The $MACRO Ladder for details.
What platforms does Macro support?
Windows 10+, macOS 10.15+, and Linux (Ubuntu 20.04+/Debian-based distributions). Mobile versions (iOS/Android) coming in 2025.
Privacy Questions
Does Macro collect any data?
No. Zero telemetry, zero tracking, zero data collection. Everything stays on your device. See Privacy Layer for technical details.
How do Privacy Profiles work?
Each Privacy Profile is an isolated universe with separate cookies, wallets, permissions, and browsing history. What you do in one profile stays there. Perfect for separating work, personal, and anonymous contexts.
Is the VPN really decentralized?
Yes. Traffic routes peer-to-peer through community-run nodes. No central VPN company. You can see your route in real-time and verify it's working.
Can Macro prevent wallet drainage?
Yes. The Signing Sandbox intercepts every transaction, translates it to plain English, checks against your rules, and only allows safe approvals through. Undrainable by design.
Web3 Questions
What networks does Macro support?
Ethereum, BSC, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, and more. Full multi-network support with per-dApp permissions.
How does the privacy mixer work?
Zero-knowledge proof system that breaks the link between sender and receiver on-chain. Deposit tokens, wait for anonymity set to grow, withdraw to fresh address. Untraceable.
Can I use my existing wallet?
Yes. Import via seed phrase or connect hardware wallets (Ledger, Trezor). Your keys, your crypto.
What are private swaps?
MEV-protected swaps that prevent front-running and sandwich attacks. Order flow encrypted, better execution prices, transaction privacy.
AI Questions
Is the AI really private?
Yes. All processing happens on your device. No queries sent to external servers. No conversation logs. Zero telemetry.
What can the AI do?
Understands Web2 and Web3 contexts. Explain smart contracts, analyze transactions, summarize articles, audit code, synthesize research across tabs.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The AI model runs locally, so it works without internet (though you need internet for browsing).
$MACRO Questions
Why does Macro have a token?
To make the ecosystem user-owned. Traditional browsers monetize users. $MACRO creates an economy around protecting users, where holders benefit from growth.
How do I earn $MACRO?
Run VPN nodes, provide mixer liquidity, stake tokens, participate in governance, refer users. See Earning with $MACRO.
Where can I buy $MACRO?
Token launch details TBA. Follow X and Telegram for announcements.
What's the total supply?
Token economics details TBA. Check What is $MACRO for updates.
Technical Questions
Is Macro open source?
Core components are open source. Some proprietary elements for security. Transparent development on GitHub.
Can I run a VPN node?
Yes. Requires minimum stake of 10,000 $MACRO, stable internet, and 99% uptime. See Earning with $MACRO.
How do I integrate my dApp?
Standard Web3 APIs work out of the box. Macro-specific privacy features available via extended API. See Integration Guide.
Can I develop extensions?
Limited extension support (Manifest V3 only). Privacy review required. Most features should use Web3 API instead. See Extension Development Guide.
